Shelia's Back In Town / Follow Me Follow
Decca F 12865 (1969)

Tinkerbells Fairydust were a British pop group in the late 1960s, who hailed from east London. They recorded three singles and one album for the Decca label. They started life as "The Rush" releasing two 45s on the Decca label prior to their name change.

Their first 45 "Lazy Day", released in the UK in 1968 failed to make any impact however it did reach #2 in Japan. Their second and this, their third 45, had little UK commercial success however this 45 again was successful in Japan reaching the Top 10.

The flip side to this 45 is a Jeff Lyne composition originally written for The Idle Race. Members of the band worked with Jeff Lyne to record a demo and later recorded their own version for this 45.

Given its lack of sales this 45 has become a collectable psyche 45 on the UK collectors market..

The Kinks - Drivin'

The Kinks Drivin' / Mindless Child Of Motherhood BMG BMGCAT407BOX6 (2019) This Kinks' 45 was originally released in 1969 on the Pye record label in the UK.  The A side was taken from the album "Arthur (Or The Decline And Fall Of The British Empire)," more often referred to as simply "Arthur."  "Arthur" was a concept album, written as a soundtrack to an intended TV show that was never produced.  Basically it revolved around the story of Arthur Morgan, a carpet-layer, who was based on Ray and guitarist Dave Davies' brother-in-law Arthur Anning who emigrated with their sister Rose to Australia in 1964.   Her departure devastated Ray, and it inspired him to write the song "Rosy Won't You Please Come Home" which was released on the 1966 album "Face to Face". Although critically acclaimed at the time, "Arthur" sold poorly.  One US critic, Griel Marcus, stated in his review  "Less ambitious than Tommy, and far mo...

The Mynah Birds It's My Time / Go On And Cry V.I.P. V.I.P.-25033 (2012) The Mynah Birds were a Canadian R&B/Garage band active 1964 through to 1967.  The band is notable due to a few of its famous band members, namely Neil Young, Rick Matthews (aka Rick James) and Bruce Palmer. In early 1966 the band was signed to Motown records and recorded this 45 which was scheduled to be released on Motown's subsidiary label V.I.P. that May.  The story goes that the band found out that their manager had stolen the advance they received from Motown so they fired him.   In return he informed Motown that Rick James was AWOL from the US Navy.  Rick was subsequently arrested by the Navy and jailed.  Motown shelved the single and cancelled plans for an album so Young and Palmer famously sold their musical equipment, bought a hearse to drive to LA and once there helped form Buffalo Springfield. Although James, Young and Palmer were gone the band still had a six month perio...

The Beatles Compact 7 EP Apple AP-4113 (1971) This Japanese EP was originally released in 1967 on the Odeon label. My copy is the 1971 re-issue on the Apple label. All four tracks originally appeared on the 1965 "Help!" album. This 33⅓ rpm EP is part of a series of EPs released in Japan during the 1960s under the "Compact 7" banner. The "Help!" album was the band's fifth studio album and the soundtrack to their second movie.  It also was the fifth time that Ringo's vocals were used for a released track, in this case "Act Naturally" . "Act Naturally" was a cover of the Johnny Russell song that was originally recorded by Buck Owens and the Buckaroos.  Buck's version reached #1 on the US Country charts in 1963. FLAC
