This Japanese EP was originally released in 1967 on the Odeon label. My copy is the 1971 re-issue on the Apple label.

All four tracks originally appeared on the 1965 "Help!" album. This 33⅓ rpm EP is part of a series of EPs released in Japan during the 1960s under the "Compact 7" banner.

The "Help!" album was the band's fifth studio album and the soundtrack to their second movie.  It also was the fifth time that Ringo's vocals were used for a released track, in this case "Act Naturally".

"Act Naturally" was a cover of the Johnny Russell song that was originally recorded by Buck Owens and the Buckaroos.  Buck's version reached #1 on the US Country charts in 1963.

The Kinks Drivin' / Mindless Child Of Motherhood BMG BMGCAT407BOX6 (2019) This Kinks' 45 was originally released in 1969 on the Pye record label in the UK.  The A side was taken from the album "Arthur (Or The Decline And Fall Of The British Empire)," more often referred to as simply "Arthur."  "Arthur" was a concept album, written as a soundtrack to an intended TV show that was never produced.  Basically it revolved around the story of Arthur Morgan, a carpet-layer, who was based on Ray and guitarist Dave Davies' brother-in-law Arthur Anning who emigrated with their sister Rose to Australia in 1964.   Her departure devastated Ray, and it inspired him to write the song "Rosy Won't You Please Come Home" which was released on the 1966 album "Face to Face". The Animals The Animals Is Here EP Columbia SEG 8374 (1964) An early EP from the original lineup of the band namely vocalist Eric Burdon, guitarist Hilton Valentine, bass guitarist Chas Chandler, keyboardist Alan Price and drummer John Steel.  The group formed in Newcastle upon Tyne during 1962 and 1963 when Burdon joined the Alan Price Rhythm and Blues Combo and they performed as the Alan Price Combo. They later changed their name to the Animals. They were supposedly dubbed "animals" because of their wild stage act, and the name stuck. Known for their gritty, bluesy sound, they balanced tough, rock-edged pop singles against rhythm-and-blues-oriented album material and were part of the British Invasion of the US. FLAC
