"Pinups" was David Bowie's seventh studio album released in October 1973.  Released as a filler to meet his contract with RCA, it was a covers album of 1960s bands who were an influence on his younger self.

The album features some great covers, including songs by The Pretty Things, The Who and The Yardbirds to name three.  This 45 lifted from the album is credited as a cover of The Mersey's version of "Sorrow".

The song was written by Bob Feldman, Jerry Goldstein and Richard Gottehrer & was originally recorded in 1965 by The McCoys, being released as the flip side of their single "Fever".  The Merseys' 1966 version was recorded with a more uptempo feel compared to the folksy sound of The McCoys' version. The Merseys' took the song to the #4 slot on the UK charts.

Bowie's as the lead single from the album peaked in the #3 slot (spending a total of 15 weeks in the UK charts).  The flip side was a cover of the Jacques Brel song "Amsterdam".  The song was recorded during the Pinups' sessions however it was not used for the album.

In July 1973 when Bowie announced the end of his alter-persona Ziggy Stardust the fall out included the breaking up of the The Spiders From Mars band.   When he began recording "Pinups" in the August he was joined by former band members Mick Ronson and Trevor Bolder.  This track also features Aynsley Dunbar on drums.

The Animals The Animals Is Here EP Columbia SEG 8374 (1964) An early EP from the original lineup of the band namely vocalist Eric Burdon, guitarist Hilton Valentine, bass guitarist Chas Chandler, keyboardist Alan Price and drummer John Steel.  The group formed in Newcastle upon Tyne during 1962 and 1963 when Burdon joined the Alan Price Rhythm and Blues Combo and they performed as the Alan Price Combo. They later changed their name to the Animals. They were supposedly dubbed "animals" because of their wild stage act, and the name stuck.
