All though referred to by many as just a surf group, The Marketts were more of an all round instrumental group combining many sounds, rock, surf, soul, etc.  Formed by Michael Zane Gordon (a multi instrumentalist, producer and composer) they were a group of session musicians based in the LA area.  

Initially they played surf music (1961's "Surfer's Stomp" being their first 45) under the guidance of producer Joe Saraceno who co-wrote with Gordon. 

Over time the band expanded their sound recording music that Gordon hoped would catch the record buying public's ear.  From blue-eyed soul, pop, film and TV themes to easy listening, their style constantly changed evolving into a more rock influenced sound, described by many as being a futurist sound evoking space travel and science fiction movies.

Tenpole Tudor Wunderbar / Tenpole 45 Stiff Buy 120 (1981) Tenpole Tudor were a punk band fronted by Eddie (Edward) Tudor-Pole. The band (and in particular Eddie) were first noticed when he appeared in the Sex Pistols' film The Great Rock 'n' Roll Swindle and on three of the singles released from the soundtrack. At one point (prior to the band folding) he was touted as a replacement singer for Johnny Rotten (John Lydon).  Initially releasing a 45 in 1980 on Korova Records, this was their 3rd single on Stiff Records and it reached #16 in the UK charts. As well as his musical career Eddie has appeared in numerous film roles including Sid and Nancy, Harry Potter and Les Misérables. He also fronted the TV show The Crystal Maze for 28 episodes in the 1990's. BUY 120

The Animals The Animals Is Here EP Columbia SEG 8374 (1964) An early EP from the original lineup of the band namely vocalist Eric Burdon, guitarist Hilton Valentine, bass guitarist Chas Chandler, keyboardist Alan Price and drummer John Steel.  The group formed in Newcastle upon Tyne during 1962 and 1963 when Burdon joined the Alan Price Rhythm and Blues Combo and they performed as the Alan Price Combo. They later changed their name to the Animals. They were supposedly dubbed "animals" because of their wild stage act, and the name stuck. Known for their gritty, bluesy sound, they balanced tough, rock-edged pop singles against rhythm-and-blues-oriented album material and were part of the British Invasion of the US. FLAC
