Once described as the "Billie Holliday of reggae", Barbara Jones was born in Kingston, Jamaica in 1952.
This was the first 45 of her career, released in 1971 (1972 in the UK). A talented singer, she toured with Jimmy Cliff in the late 70s and early 80s as a backing singer but continued to record as a solo artist releasing over 40 singles in Jamaica and 16 in the UK. Her biggest chart success came in 1981 with the 45 "Just When I Need You Most."
At the beginning of 2014 whilst living in the UK she became ill and returned to Jamaica and later that year she died aged only 62.
