Starting life as The Sweetshop they shortened their name and adopted glam rock to become one of the best known bands of the 1970s. The best known line-up was lead vocalist Brian Connolly, bassist Steve Priest, guitarist Andy Scott and drummer Mick Tucker. 

Initial 45 releases were very much bubblegum pop which, while providing the chart hits, was not the sound the band wanted.  As they evolved and were given more control their sound became heavier and this could be heard especially on many of their album tracks.

This single written by the song writing duo Mick Chapman & Nicky Chinn, released in April 1973 hit #2 in the UK charts.  The flip side written by the band is a heavy guitar driven track that owes a lot to Led Zeppelin's Immigrant Song.

Vibravoid Kraut Rock Sensation EP Fruits De Mer CRUSTACEAN 07 (2009) Another great slab of vinyl from the Fruits De Mer label featuring the band Vibravoid who hail from Dusseldorf, Germany. The original plan for the label was for long lost rock classics to be re-released however licensing the music was I assume very difficult and expensive so the label moved into having rare and classic rock being re-recorded as cover versions. Maureen Ryan - Better Use Your Head

Marion Ryan  (4 February 1931 – 15 January 1999)  was a popular British singer in the 50s & 60s, once called "the Marilyn Monroe of popular song".  Most of her output is referred to as run of the mill pop but the "A" side of a 1968 release, although not experiencing any chart success at the time, found acceptance during the 1970s on the Northern Soul dance scene. The White Stripes Candy Cane Children / Story Of The Magi - Silent Night XL Recordings WSXMAS 1 (2002) Christmas cheer from Jack & Meg White aka The White Stripes.  The A side was recorded 1998 and the  flip side 2002, both at Third Man Studios, Soutwest Detroit.   This UK version of the 45 was limited to 1000 copies. The US version was pressed on white vinyl.  The 45 was re-released on Third Man Records in 2010. The White Stripes wish you and yours a wonderful Christmas this, and every year.
